Caballito de Mar is a sculpture born from motion, memory, and discarded machinery. Crafted from a reclaimed rotor, timing chain, timing gears, rebar, bolts, sheet-metal drops, aluminum connecting rods, transmission parts, and pushrods, this seahorse carries the history of industry within its frame. Each component once powered movement on land; now, together, they suggest life beneath the surface of the sea.
The mechanical anatomy forms more than a figure—it creates a small ecosystem. Curved metal lines echo drifting sea grass, gears become silent organs, and weathered steel transforms into fins shaped by current and time. What was once broken or forgotten is reimagined as balance, shelter, and motion, reflecting how even the hardest materials can be reshaped into something delicate and alive. Through imagination and repurposed metal, Caballito de Mar becomes a tribute to resilience, transformation, and the quiet harmony between industry and nature.
