Colibrí Migratorio
Every year, thousands of hummingbirds cross the Gulf Coast on one of nature's most remarkable migrations. Despite their delicate size, they travel extraordinary distances, guided by instinct, resilience, and an unwavering determination to continue their journey.
Colibrí Migratorio is a celebration of that quiet perseverance. Forged from reclaimed automotive and industrial steel, the sculpture captures a fleeting moment of movement. The hummingbird gently flutters when touched, while the entire sculpture rotates on its base, inviting the viewer to experience it from every angle. Like the living bird that inspired it, the sculpture is never truly still.
The flower is finished with brass plating and a flame-colored interior, creating a warm focal point that contrasts with the heat-colored steel of the hummingbird. Rather than relying on paint, the colors emerge through heat and fire, becoming part of the metal itself.
Created for exhibition in Rockport, Texas, a destination celebrated for its hummingbird migration, Colibrí Migratorio reflects themes of endurance, hope, and renewal. It reminds us that even the smallest among us can accomplish extraordinary journeys, and that beauty is often found not only in arrival, but in the courage to keep moving forward.
