I Swear: By the Stars and the Moon Above is a mixed-media metal sculpture by Enrique Del Angel built around one of love's oldest promises, to give someone the moon and stars.
At the center of the sculpture is a cowboy formed from a railroad spike. Tough, weathered steel becomes the figure making the promise, while a brass rope reaches outward to capture a crescent moon filled with stars.
The moon provides the sparkle, but the cowboy carries the story.
He represents the one making the promise: strong as nails, grounded, and willing to reach for something seemingly impossible for the person he loves.
The brass rope also introduces movement into the sculpture. Because of its natural flexibility, the moon can gently move up and down, adding a fourth dimension to the work and bringing the captured moon and stars to life.
It is a sculpture about giving someone more than an object.
It is about giving them your word.
I swear. By the stars and the moon above.
